The only con (albeit minor) is that some of them have an overly-bright Red LED that is always on and doesn't power off even when the PC is powered down - you have to cut power from the power supply. I have purchased around 10 of this very reader in the last 18 months and every one has worked and remained working, which is saying something since card readers don't seem to have a premium brand.
